How do I know what type of skin I have? Believe me, this is one of my patients' most common concerns. And that's okay, because knowing your skin type is important for selecting the right products and maintaining an effective routine. In this post, I want to share some steps to help you determine your skin type.

- Make yourself one facial cleansing: Wash your face gently with a mild facial cleanser and warm water. Make sure to remove any makeup or product residue.
- Wait an hour: Yes, wait. After cleansing your face, avoid applying any product for at least an hour. This will allow your skin to return to its natural state and reveal its full potential.
- Observe your skinNow take a moment to examine your skin in a well-lit mirror. Pay attention to the following characteristics:
- If your skin feels tight, rough, or flaky, you likely have dry skin. It may lack radiance and be prone to wrinkles. Dry skin often has insufficient production of natural oils (tallow). This can make the skin feel devoid of moisture and less elastic.
- If your skin has a shiny appearance and an oily texture, especially in the T-zone (forehead, nose, and chin), visible pores, and is prone to acne breakouts, you probably have oily skin.
- If you have a combination of oily skin in your T-zone and dry skin in other areas, such as your cheeks, you may have combination skin.
- If your skin feels balanced, with no noticeable oily or dry areas, and looks healthy without significant blemishes, you likely have normal skin.
- If your skin is easily irritated, reddens, or frequently experiences allergic reactions, you probably have sensitive skin.
- Take into account the seasons and external factors: Your skin type can vary depending on the seasons and other external factors, such as climate or hormonal changes.
